Kalinya's gardens are maintained to the highest standards. We work all week to keep the backdrop for your photography just perfect. Wander and find lots of different nooks to create the perfect backdrop; from our orchard, boathouse and dam through to our natural koi pond to our very cool Piano and Sports Lounge.
Our beautifully appointed Carriage House is a wedding reception celebration space, which has a dedicated 300 sqm to seat 150 guests, or cater for up to 200 guests with cocktail serving. With high ceilings and feature lighting, exposed beams and timber dance floor, it showcases 4 huge timber barn doors and wrap around glass doors, providing an abundance of natural light. It also features a commercial satellite bar and kitchen with cool room, bathroom facilities, and an alfresco outdoor terrace complete with bench seating.
The award-winning gardens are one of the highlights at Kalinya Estate, and with ample space, there’s a variety of ceremony options to create a wedding unique to your vision and style. The ornamental grape vine walkway and gazebo is just one of our beautiful spaces; the gazebo featuring leadlight French doors and windows on each side. The ornamental koi pond, with statues and water fountain, is another picturesque back-drop for a ceremony – complete with Kalinya’s resident ducks if they fancy a paddle!

The Heritage Homestead is one of the finest examples of Australian colonial architecture and craftsmanship, cleverly combined with modern conveniences and style. It is the epitome of Estate living with its large wrap-around verandahs, grand high ceilings, and beautiful vintage finishes. Patterned cornice and artworks hanging on picture rails adorn every room, while the gorgeous polished Blue Gum timber floors grace the living areas creating a natural, inviting atmosphere. The Homestead is the heart of the Estate and comprises 8 bedroom spaces with 13 high-quality beds—sleeping a maximum of 16 guests. With 4 large bathrooms plus an outdoor shower, there’s room for everyone.
Constructed in the 1850s and originally the local nurses’ quarters in the Wollondilly region, The Lodge has a grand, yet cosy ambience. With exposed beams, vintage pendant lighting and floor-to-ceiling shelves crammed with book and VHS collections. At the heart of The Lodge, you will discover an open fireplace and the gleaming French industrial-style kitchen. Play chess or read a book by the fire, gather outside with a wine on the deck or cook a barbeque feast in the Italian alfresco dining space. You’ll love the 5 designer bedrooms all furnished with high-quality king bedroom suites and featuring beautiful art deco and art nouveau trims and leadlight doors. The four bathrooms include 3 ensuites with converted timber sideboards, and the main bathroom featuring a romantic claw foot bath.
In its former glory, The Barn was originally used to build submarines. Some years later, it became a machinery workshop, which was later still, converted into stunning horse stables. Today, The Barn has been again transformed, this time, into a large, two-storey spacious high vaulted ceiling entertainers’ dream home—housing some of Kalinya’s favourite accommodation rooms. Featuring striking raked ceilings, exposed Oregon walls and stylish country home finishes with views of the magnificent gardens—it’s craftsmanship at its best. The Barn exhibits intelligent design and is home to the much-loved Kalinya Games Centre, The Terrace Entertainment Room, Piano and Sports Lounge and Gold Class Theatre. The upstairs accommodation includes 3 king-sized bedrooms, including a spectacular hand-crafted triple bunk room (perfect for littlies and not so littlies), and 7 high-quality beds for a lush country escape. There are 2 stylish designer bathrooms, and each bedroom is equipped with a Smart TV and NBN wi-fi.

Below is a sample of how you can fill your days at the Estate in the lead up to your big day; to ensure you and your guests make the most of your experience at Kalinya.
2pm Check in and unpack; explore the Estate
3pm Welcome guests with drinks in the gardens
4pm Gather under the tennis pavilion for Pimms, cocktails and cheese boards while tennis and basketball competitions ensue on the court
6pm Enjoy dinner by the pizza oven and firepit with family and friends
8pm Bridal parties bid a (temporary) farewell and continue preparations for the big day in respective houses
7am Indulge in a champagne breakfast on the Homestead verandah or in the gardens
8am Hit the gym and squash court for a morning work out
9am Welcome your hair and makeup artists to pamper the wedding parties onsite, in the privacy of the grounds
11am Invite your photographer/ videographer to capture all your pre-ceremony moments in the designer gardens and lodgings
1-2pm Commit to one another in a garden ceremony
2-3pm Guests are served cocktails and canapes on the lawn, whilst the bridal party continue with photos
5pm Proceed to the Carriage House for formal dining and speeches
7pm Celebrate the occasion with entertainment of your choice and dance floor antics

Kalinya Estate has contacts for some of the most esteemed chefs and caterers around! We have a fully equipped commercial satellite kitchen for the caterer of your choice to use. Our stipulation is that they must be professional caterers who can provide certificates and licenses in food handling and public liability insurance. Ask for a copy of our Preferred Suppliers list which will direct you to amazing service providers for everything you’ll need for your big day!
Kalinya Estate does not supply alcohol; we are a BYO venue. We only stipulate that beverages be served by RSA qualified bar staff with public liability for the event.
Many chefs/caterers offer packages which include bar service or you can refer to our preferred supplier list.
Kalinya Estate does not provide styling. You, or your wedding coordinator/event stylist, are free to decorate and style the space as you wish, provided the venue is left in its original condition.
There are many local Airbnb’s and established hotels; suggested areas include Picton to the north and Mittagong to the south.
Kalinya Estate does not allow camping on the grounds. Should you require additional accommodation, please enquire about our Orchard Rooms as an add-on to your booking.
Yes, there will be a Venue Manager available on the day to ensure the safe and smooth progression of your event; however this only relates to the property and its facilities and inclusions. The Venue Manager is not there to assist with the overall coordination of the wedding.
All day wedding guests not lodging at Kalinya Estate, must have left the property by 11:30pm. We require the last serving of beverages at 10pm and music to cease by 11pm (strictly no later), to assist with ushering guests to transport by 11:30pm. In accordance, supplier bump-out should be completed by 11pm.
Music which can be heard outside after 11pm will result in forfeiture of the entire security deposit, due to the potential effect on the Estate regarding noise complaints.
Guests lodging at the Estate are permitted to continue celebrations inside the Homestead, Lodge and Barn after curfew hours, so long as no music can be heard outside of the accommodation after 11pm.
In the event of a weekday wedding celebration, each aspect is to be executed one hour earlier than the times posited.
Guests can organise Recovery Events post wedding function; no additional charges will apply if the event is limited to guests lodging at Kalinya Estate.
Recovery Events are to be hosted in the gardens and limited to a maximum duration of 3 hours. In the case of inclement weather, the Carriage House is available, however it is the guests’ responsibility to ensure the space is clean, set-up and ready at the required time.
Recovery Events which include guests not lodging at the Estate (i.e. coming back onto the property), must be booked ahead of time; with the Owner’s/ Manager’s express approval and at an additional fee.
At Kalinya your wedding will always be exclusive use. We only take one group booking at a time, so you will not be sharing accommodation or facilities. Unlike other venues, we are committed to not doing tours during people's stays.
At Kalinya you do not get allocated a lawn or particular space for your wedding… this is because you have the whole estate to yourself. You can choose to do your ceremony wherever you like. Obviously we have favourite spots that I am sure will be yours as well!
